01Confirm which update applies

Hotfix 1.0.4 was announced on September 9 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It includes saving and stability fixes.

Steam's September 10 announcement says 1.0.5 improves shader compilation and may reduce stuttering for some users. It does not announce a universal fix or confirm the same version for consoles.

02Match the blocked interaction

• Crake training dialogue and a tutorial blocked by using Voracious Bite too quickly were fixed in 1.0.4.
• The patch addresses the Deep Down cave trap, a prematurely ending Hive and Seek solution, On the Run loading, and a blocker in The Heart Wants What It Wants.
• Investigating the rag in Smoke and Ashes is now optional.

03Match the platform-specific symptom

The 1.0.4 fix for controller-related FPS drops caused by outdated GameInput is Steam-only. Its VSync fix with FSR Frame Generation is PC-only. These are specific corrections, not explanations for every performance problem.

04Recheck progression after updating

1. Record the installed version, then apply the update offered by your platform. Reopen the same objective and test the interaction again.
2. If it still fails, read the journal's active step and check the guide's location, time-of-day and prerequisite conditions. An unmet condition needs a route correction; a patch note does not complete it for you.
3. Keep your current save. If comparing an earlier save, choose one from before the failed interaction and note whether the failure repeats.
4. For a persistent issue, record platform, version, objective, location and the actions that reproduce it. Include whether it happens on an older save or only the current one.
