Where Old Devils Lie: solve the map and open the ruins

Study the books with Anca, then solve her map puzzle and investigate the sealed ruins. The steps below cover both the research prerequisite and the doorway.
01First: finish Between the Words
- After Echoes, travel with Anca immediately or meet her later at Crossroads Inn. Ask to study the convent books.
- Inspect the book table. Select the apparently blank volume at the lower left, Sancti Mihai Historia Vera, and bring it to her. Examine it by candlelight to reveal its writing.
- Tea is optional: inspect the pot and herbs on the inn's south-side table if you want to spend the extra segment. Finish the conversation to complete the study.
02Solve the map
- After one in-game day, return to Crossroads Inn. Inspect the map's middle-right point, then its right-hand point beside the river.
- Meet Anca before noon. Follow her to the lake, then head northeast upstream through the cave between the river's branches.
03Open the painted doorway
- Enter the ruins from the right, past the fallen column and through the wall crack. Inspect the entrance painting.
- Descend through the metal doors, defeat the enemies and avoid the damaging red vines.
- With Focus Mode, inspect the mortar beside the left-hand bowl, the nearby broken pot and the painting beside Anca.
- Agree to the painted-symbol ritual. The door opens into Stronger Than Achilles.
